There will be an official Mayo launch of my book at the Turas Siar Cultural Centre, near Clogher Post Office (F26 PY04), on Sunday 31st May at 2pm.
The book traces the history of the Gaynard name and it’s manyvariants over the past thousand years in Ireland and France, with shorter chapters on the family in England and the United States. It also includes references to many of the families into which theGaynards married in Erris, including the Cattigans, Rafters, Lannons,Keanes, Coyles, Heneghans, and Geraghtys.
The history of the family in Ireland since 1235 reflects the widerstory of Norman names in Mayo, such as Barrett, Padden, and Prendergast.
Refreshments will be served; donations to Turas Siar will be welcome, and all are very welcome to attend.
